Roles We Play –

Oh, how you bend yourself to fit into my perfect picture! What joy it brings me!

Go ahead, try to make yourself into what I wished you were from the beginning. Do you regret everything you lived before me?

No? Let me show you the flaws and you’d better fix yourself to fit my way.

More calm,

More sober,

More quiet,

More productive.

Are you still wild and free?

Too skinny,

Too fat,

Always too short.

You wear too much makeup, why don’t you get dolled up for me anymore?

You’re out spoken? Shut up. Why would you say that? You’re embarrassing me.

You got better but still not good enough. I’ll leave you with an unattainable picture of what could have been if you had dulled yourself better.

Live with it,

Wish for it.

Long for me always.

How could you ever be whole again without me? I promise my words will haunt you at the end of each day.

You think you can grow to be better after me? That won’t do. You’re a rule breaker, a lost cause. You can’t improve.

All you have left to do, is play a sicker role than I played for you.
